2LT vs 3L injectors/pumps?

I need to replace the clutch in my Surf so figure I may as well throw in my 2.8 at the same time. I was going to put the top of the 2LT pump on the 3L pump but I am not sure if this would actually offer any advantage over just using the 2LT pump complete? Also I imagine I should be using the injectors that match the pump (whichever I use) is this correct or would one type be better than the other? I have the luxury of having both engines complete and running so I can mix and match parts if there is any advantage to be had.
