Gidday all. So starter motor has decided to be lame. now to get it to start I have to belt the shit out of the starter solenoid as i turn the key to get it to click into life. Obviously im in for a clean out and maybe a rebuild. Any tips on how to strip the starter motor and where to get brushes etc from?

Cheers, Brandon.

SOLENOIDS ARE A SEALED UNIT AS FAR AS REKITIING THEM UNLESS YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD A SUCSESSFUL GO AT OPENING ONE AND DOING IT THEY ARE A REPLACE THE WHOLE SOLENIOD JOB

solenoids aren't a sealed unit you can dismantle them, its the coil on the end that would be iffy at best, but normally i have found with the 12volt and 24 volt hitachi's is the brushes or there connections and on the bosch units the brass bushes on the spindle wear out causing the motor shaft windings to touch the housing creating a short.
