Not sure if there is already a post similar to this. But I have some 35x11.5r15 Silverstones coming, and I have 2 sets of rims sitting around. One set is 15x7 and the other is 15x8. Just curious to know what you guys thought what rims I should run them on any why. FYI 15x8s are steel, and 15x7 are Pajero Enkei Alloys.
Cheers Brandon.

Re: Silverstone Rim Choice
either is fine mate, if your running low pressure (as in 10psi and under) without beadlocks you could knock a bead off with either size rim but generally would be sweet, you can knock any tyre off any rim at that pressure without beadlocks
, with beadlocks there's plenty of people running them sweet on 10" rims way down past 10psi
good choice in tyre mate but don't go driving them on the road they'll be bald by the weekend

Re: Silverstone Rim Choice
8" would be preferred
7" is just too narrow and you can drop pressures to about 16 psi and not pop beads but you can if you doing something stupid..

Re: Silverstone Rim Choice
The trouble is dirt and branches getting jammed in the bead. I went beadlocks eventually after getting sick of all the punctures.

Another option is to run a bead of windscreen sealer round the rims before you seat the tyres on. I was going to tyre shop once a month or so getting beads popped off to clean sticks and muck out. Had a good 6 mth or more no prob since glued on. Couple have got bits of stick jammed in but havn't leaked yet. Thats 10.5 wide simexs on 7"rims, run down to 15 psi or so.

I run 35x11.5r15 silverstones on 8inch rims
I ran down to about 12psi without beadlocks, had no issues save 1 big hit , didn't bother any lower to avoid the increased potential bead loss
Same rims are now beadlocks.
Avoid 10inch rims without beadlocks, as with low pressures (15) you easily lose a bead with a small knock
Watched a safari do this 2-3 times on real basic bits of track, as soon as he put pressure back above 20 he was fine

Re: Silverstone Rim Choice
I know you have asked about 7 or 8 inch rims. But Some people are mentioning 10. Don't use 10's. Too much side wall ballooning.
I believe the guys in Asia often run them on 7's to get the tread pattern to open up a little more. I have 35 x 11" Simex on 8.5 rims and like them, Wouldn't go any wider.

Re: Silverstone Rim Choice
I've got mine on 15x8, -22 off set. I dont drop the pressures.... cos i haven't got my on board air sorted yet, so obviously no problems dropping beads here
On another note make sure the lower rear seat belt bolts are trimmed flush with the captive nut. Otherwise when the tyre tucks up it can catch on the inner side wall and rip up ya nice new shovels. This may not be an issue depending on your lift and the off set you end up running.

Nice, cheers guys. Gona go with the 8s. I fitted 1 tyre on the 7, one on the 8 and the 7" Pajero rim looked like a big juicy piece of goat shit.
