Nissan Auto

Post by tuckertrucker »

Hi again ORE, thanks Crash for showing me to that post. A few more things I want to look at: I prefer manuals because of the control. But I also like autos because when all you want to do is get some mile for your coffee its just easier. But I've also seen that you can get a lot of manual control out of an auto. One thing I DONT like about autos is kickdown on the accelerator. Can I just unplug the switch on the pedal to be done with it (without causing any issues with the comp)? I much prefer to select OD, 2nd & 1st manually than rely on kickdown. Also, does any one know where I can find a trans oil temp (preferably cheap as I'm a little light of money right now) that will read in degrees C, should I mount on the oil feed line on its way to the cooler or back from it. And benefits/ disadvantages from the feed line vs the pan on the trans?
Cheers, Dylan

Never mind about the kickdown switch part - on a hunch I just went for a drive and discovered that the hold position of the E-A/T switch disables the kickdown switch. I think it says that somewhere on here I read too. So that solves that problem. It will hold OD too even when its in lockup. Still gonna want a manual lock switch though cause I can't seem to get lockup in any other gear than OD.
Cheers

As far as I am aware you could use any Oil temp gauge doesn't have to be a trans one, only making up a fitting to attach it somehow would be the hard part. At a guess Id say you want it in the oil feed to the cooler as this will be the hot oil out of the box.

thanks for that. I agree about the location for the sender cause it would be the hot oil fresh from the box. But does all of the transmission oil cycle through the cooler or does a fraction of the oil cycle through the cooler while the rest continues through the trans?

I believe you adjust the tps to change the kickdown.
Worked for me anyway.
