Hey Guys I'm a 18yr who become hooked on 4wding I own a Suzuki SJ410 which only had a 1.0L engine and 4 speed gearbox so after I blew that up I did much research only to discover that the Celica 22R GT 2.4L could be installed, I then Matched the engine with a 98 Toyota Hilus 5 speed gearbox, how I have the hole package sitting in my garage but don't know what to do next. I guess I need a certified welder two mount then engine mounts ect but do I need an engineer to say that what Imp doing is all good, I plan to do a complete rebuild suspension the works but I don't what to stuff it up by not having massacrer paper work. If paper work/engineers are needed where do I go being located in the South Island 1hrs drive north of Dunedin in a place called Oamaru.
All help would be much appreciated because I don't know where else to turn Cheers

You need to find an engineer and tell him what you are doing, he will be able to tell you what to do and what you can't do.
The LTSA will be able to give you a list of certifiers in your area.
Be aware that all certifiers are differrent, some are easy, some are stupidly tough.
Keep us up to date (heaps of pics etc)
There are alot of really clued up guys on this site who a wealth of knowledge.
Have fun

Hilux 5 speed and a 410 = short rear drive shaft.

if you stick that in, also get ready to replace the axles, diffs etc, probably sooner rather than later. Can't imagine they'll last that long.

dunno about the weight of the 22r GT but the gearbox and transfere are bloody heavy, I can't lift mine so it would have to be over 60kg. My surf has a 1g-geu 6cyl Celica motor in it and thats bloody heavy as well. I'd say about 200kg combined but thats only a guess.
Have fun and good luck

Gday Ben
Sounds interesting

The worst thing about the 410 is the 4 speed i think, my dad has one and its screaming on the open road.
Sounds interesting. I had to pull the motor out of my 413 last week and replace it. I got a holden barina and put its engine in (g13A 1324cc). I think the best thing about suzukis is that they are so light. They sit on top of the soft stuff while the land cruisers and patrols sink
Let us know how you get on. I'm 19 and from temuka, if you and ya mates want to go mud plugging sometime I know where theres a couple nice bog holes
