Offroad-Express

So my 89 surf has a 2lt fitted I have had a starting problem where it starts like its out of fuel then coughs and splutters into life that was the problem for a short time but now has a hudge amout of white smoke on idle and blue under load . Whats some things I can look into my salf before getting it to a garage to be looked at

turbo is leaking oil into the exhaust.

Head has cracked.....

if head was cracked it would be overheating or loosing water.

Has no overheating problem at all im going to bite the bullet and send it to the truck shop at work and get them to spend a couple hours checking compression timing head ect before I look for a transplant thanks for the advice

have you checked how much play the turbo has?
