weird cold start problem D21 Terrano

Hi all,

Been experiencing a weird cold start problem with the Terrano. It will miss-fire and carry on unless you keep constant throttle on.

When it hits operating temperature it's fine! It's literally just from a cold start when it's been sitting overnight.

I've replaced the glow plugs, cleaned out the electrical connectors etc, cleaned out the intake manifold. No joy.

Ideas?

Tried changing fuel filter? Sometimes these do bizarre things when due for a change

I wonder (and this is literally spitballing now) but if it's anything to do with the cold start crap on the intake elbow? (I replaced mine with an intercooler so never had a chance to have a problem with it as it was removed)

Interesting thought.

The vacuum hose for the boost compensator on the fuel pump. Where does that go? In its current position it's on the butterfly bowl next to the intake elbow...

hey it might be your glow plugs or something that related, try double glowing it.

Glow fully the first time until the glow light turns off then quickly turn off then back on again wait until glow light go's out again and start.

this will tell you if its glow plugs/glow plug related.

Ceers Pete

I removed all the butterfly cold start crap when I put on the intercooler, also blocked off EGR. All the vaccum hoses left behind were blocked off.

Have removed the EGR and have blocked off the vacuum hose associated with it. I'll get rid of the butterfly cold start stuff when I do my intercooler too, however I'll keep the one that goes to the boost pump.

Started ok today.
