Neslon and Tasman Bay

Hi everyone,

Planning to spend 2 days with our little princess in Nelson and was wondering how easy we can go soft off road to discover that region.

Will appreciate any advice/help.

Clarence reserve,
Molesworth, more dirt road than 4wding.
Rainbow Valley Another dirt road but gives you access to the Edwards valley and Maling Pass for a nice bit of off road driving. Also good camping spot at Lake Tennyson nearby.
Porika track near Saint Arnaud, Leatham Valley also near Saint Arnaud, Rainbow Road also exits near Saint Arnaud.
Glenroy Valley behind Murchison, ,private property but access is relatively easy to arrange, Maruia Saddle road is a good dirt road to drive too.
Mackley River to Denniston is well worth the trip too.
There are more areas further afield towards Takaka and Golden Bay.

Thanks a million, I will investigate each location and work on a roadbook.. then just have to wait the sunny weather and be lucky that there are still places in the big boat

I had to google that... again.. after the bed bugs, sand bugs.. I though we will be spared here after living in APAC.. but it seems not at all

Sand flies aren't too bad here, there are a few spots were they carry away small children but generally you don't notice them
