No Power KZN185 Surf

Just after any advice or feed back on a recent issue with my 96' Surf...
Got no power getting to the ground. Pulling off in D is near enough impossible. Have to put her in L to get it moving and basically drive it like a manual. Just 2 + D that is having the issue. Have checked trans oil and few other basic things but got me beat. O/D light also has started flashing occasionally on the dash, not sure if this is a fault code, been trying to do some homework on that too. Nothing significant has happened as of late that I can think of to cause the issue and she's only done 260k (I say only, serviced every 7k).
Not the best explanation but any information would be appreciated.
