Wiring help: loose relais, dash, stereo - Nissan Homy 94

Hi peeps,

once more some questions as I'm quite unsure about many things on this van.

1. Under the car yesterday I noticed a relais ACX1940RB hanging loose under the driver's side. Cable coming from somewhere under the seat, hanging below the injector pump. Still connected, I guess, except for the eyelet coming out opposite to the cables. What is this and what is the eyelet for? Just to screw it back on?

2. There are a couple of loose cables behind the instrument panel. I got in there yesterday, loosened all the screws but when trying to get out the instrument panel (speedo and so on) it seems to be hanging somewhere. Pulling and wiggling didn't get me anywhere so I thought I'd ask here. Any instructions on how to get behind there without dismantling the whole dash?

3. I wanted to fit a new car audio. Mine still has the old Jap stereo with something called a frequency changer/adaptor connected somewhere. Is this converting NZ frequencies for the Jap stereo? I'm looking to put some newish CD/AUX thingy from Pioneer in there. As I don't want to drive around with a big hole in the dash for a week because i forgot to buy this and that I thought I'd rather ask before. So, how do you do it?!? I found some stereos on Trademe that come without the wiring harness for 30$ - would I need a harness (because there should be one attached to my old one)? Will the old connectors fit (probably not)?
Sorry for the general questions but I'm pretty much clueless...

Cheers

It's reasonably striaght forward, you will be supplied a harness with the new stereo and I always find it best to use this. The old harness (plug) will not fit. You can buy adapters, which plug on each end (old harness - new harness), but this is best done at a shop with a box full of them as they are model specific, and I have yet to see anyone get the right one first time!
But better yet: I usually run all now wiring anyway (power + speakers, it doesnt take much) so the OEM wiring stays in place untouched. It's usually pretty crap wire and also 20 years old!

The band expander can be removed, (antenna plugs into unit, unit plugs to stereo) it shifts the frequency received by 20mhz or so, ie the stereo thinks it's listening to 100 but is really catching 80. A new domestic stereo will be programmed to the NZ band, so haveing the expander in could put your stations outside what the unit will receive. Some may have power running to them for a ground loop isolator. Snip snip.

The antenna plug should be the same as the one on the stereo, usually british ones that are oddball, again, adapters available if needed. Tutuing with coax connectors is not for the average, one loose strand of the braid can short it and effectively disconnect your antenna.

Sorry dont know about the other stuff.
