Im sure this has been asked before but i will ask again as i cant seem to find anything.

Rim off set for an FJ70 Land cruiser running 35s. It currently has 15x8s unsure of the offset but it rubs slightly on the iner gaurd and exhaust when it flexes.

So i am considering going to a 15x10 with a lower offset -44 looks to be the most popular, but will this ruin the wheel bearings? Is it best to stick with a 15x8, only problem with them i cant seem to find a lower offset. Dont want to go custom as i can afford that.

No, a bit more offset will not cause your wheel bearings to suddenly implode... Only problem with 10" rims is the bead coming off at low pressures, what tyres are you running? I'm sure I have seen -44 15x8s on trademe before, not sure where you'd get them though...

I looked for -44 15 x 8s for ages, they exist but rare as. Bought some tyres on 15x10s in the end. Another set of rims I got cut and changed. Was around $60 a rim to get offset changed, (plus add powder coat if your after a good finish) I just spray bombed. If you pick up some rims for say $200 then that works out not too different to new rims anyway.

Not sure on 70 series but rear arches aren't overly big 15x10 -44 can cause it to rub on the outer edge of the gaurd when off road flexing and can damage you tyres and truck
A lot of people who have them are more after the look of tyres sticking out past the gaurd lol
I recommend a low offset 15x8 I've got 37s on mine no worries had the centre's move to about -46 to suit my truck

hey dude, mate of mine has a brand new set of 5 15x8 -44 beadlocks ( the mudstuck ones ) for 1200 for the set of 5

Never said they would suddenly implode, but would the extra offset not cause extra stress on the wheel bearings seeing as the majority of the weight of the vehicle is being moved further past the bearing?

I was worried about this as well, might have to do some measuring before i decide what to do

Another 25mm won't make bugger all difference to bearing wear.

Most common 8" wheels have same backspace as the 10" -44 ones

doesn't the clearance on the inside stay the same?

center of the rim moves 25mm toward the back of the rim going from -19 to -44 however the rim is getting two inches wider (one inch either side of the center line). an inch is approx 25mm therefore the distance from the inside edge of the rim and the center doesn't change and won't help you. The outside edge of the rim on the other hand moves out 2 inches.

Stick to 8 inch rims and get the centers moved

Cheers for the advice, makes sense. Will have to find out who can shift the centers for me down this way

After having a closer look at the cruiser, the front is wider than the rear, so all i really need to do is run some spacers up the back to match the front. Im guessing this shouldnt cause any issues? Ive read this wheel track issue is common on the newer 70s

I've got some 10mm slip on spacers with shanked nuts if you want them, came off the front of my 70 they were on there to make some ugly ass alloys clear the steering arms.
