question about cv breakage

Post by mcphail »

hi guys i have a kzn130 ifs front end and im just looking for some clarification on what would cause the inner cv joint to pull apart.
would too much suspension droop cause the inner cv joint to pull its self out of the cup that attaches to the diff?
if this is the case would a limit strap or spacing the cv out be a better idea?

if its still got the factory bump stops then it shouldn't.

have you had the front diff out? have you checked the bolts holding the diff up? because if a bolt on opposite side to extended cv is loose, that side then drops down and can over extend axle on other side. has happened to me before.

is it the drivers side?

ok the problem is the setup is in a escudo so its not factory.
yes it was the drivers side cv and as far as i can tell it happened when the drivers wheel was in a hole, so im wondering if this is what cause it to pull out.
i also smashed the aluminum front diff mount to bits. it looks like when the wheel came back up it slamed the cv into the diff.
so its all fun and games at this point.
