Shit :!: You nelson boys funding your retirement fund, or is it to keep the wannabies away :?: Too much for, but would have been very keen.

When ya compare that to Fred Cassin's $800/ vehicle for 4 days of tough-tough coast to coast it looks pretty cheap.

Did the Nelson teams challenge a year or 2 back & it was heaps of fun, so when I got the call to join a team for this one I wasn't gunna say no.

The entrance fee also helps cover meal and accomodation costs for some of the 30 odd volunteers that come down from Nelson. In 2006 they spent 2 days standing in one spot in the pouring rain marshalling for us. Cheers.

We're a pretty tight-knit unit :D Me from Taupo, My mate Damian from Welly & his mate from somewhere in the deep deep south.

We're sailing over a few days before & are planning to take the scenic route to Reefton, so we'll be having some team practice sessions along the way. Between the pubs we might even fit in a bit of 4wding as well! :D

CLINT, My mate Damian from Welly, Is Damian the one who left CHCH to work for G. Guy motors in Welly, drives a red Nissan? If so he still owes me a shout. Say hi from Fitzy. May catch up with you all in Reefton.

Hi Swampa, looking forward to meeting up. Your wagon sounds pretty cool. I've just got to put on some snorkles & seal the front of the motor & I'll be set to go. Have you seen the thread on my buildup in the Projects & Mods section?

Hi Smokey, yep, that's him. I think I met you at the Nelson challenge a few years back, I was co-driving for Damian.

Cheers

Hell Clint remember meeting you? some of those Nelson enduro's I don't even remember being at, staying at that Brightwater pub can be a Trap.
Clint, what are you doing to keep the mud off the front crank sensor on the Lexus? I have seen a few V8's stop when the Brain stops working.

Me mate Klem (Telexs on here) has managed to get the lexus in his winch challenge truck pretty reliable through the water & mud so I'm going to go round to his workshop to do the job & get a few pointers. Basically it's a matter of pulling off all the little plastic covers around the cam belt & siliconing them back on, gumming up a few other holes & putting a seal on the crank between the cam & fan belt pulleys. Then I'll silicone spray all the electrics & soft-seal the plug on the crank sensor.

Cheers

Clint, was talking to my mate who runs a Lexus V8 and he said the trouble with the crank sensor on the front pully is the mud builds up in the sensor recess and then the cutter won't read the sensor. He hasn't done it to his yet but reckons a windscreen washer set up so it squirts on to the sensor would wash the mud off, could be worth a shot with that West Coast mud.
Now I've got #1 & #2 of your team sorted out and I think I may have sorted out your Southern man ---(swampa) , he may answer this one himself, did you live in Nelson ? , did your Hilux have a 3.8 V6 in it ? , was talking to my son Maurice who lives in Stoke and he was telling me about this vehicle and person that fits the above discription ---- am I close ? .

DON'T LET THE SENSOR GET DIRTY,

FITZY.
