Hey guys

I'm doing my homework on bino's and wondered if anyone on here is a guru or can make any recommendations?.
Just general use, keep handy in the 4wd for spotting animals, huts etc. Have been looking at Bushnell models and 10x42
is appealing. Don't mind spending good coin on a waterproof pair that should last me out.

depends a lot on the sort of use, ranges, magnification and of course low light use.
i can't comment on sth island hill country long range stuff but in the medium category that fits in the glove box the old Leupold Yosemite have been a staple for years. not sure on currant prices, there where very good for the money and the size.

you can spend a huge amount to gain a small amount.

Not a guru but I use Bushnell h2o's. Had a good run out of them. A 10x25 in a pouch on my knife belt all day every day farming and hunting, well used. And 12x50 h20 usually in my surf. Also have Bushnell legacy zoom 10-22x50, don't like as much as h20 though.

My old model h2o's in 10x25 have been awesome for most hunting and vehicle based stuff. Can't complain about low light performance when I've needed em but at longer range with poor light they'll likely fall over before a larger objective model. Mine are small because I might have to carry em for days.

Go into a store and try some gear out, not across the shop, go outside with em. It also doesn't matter how good the binos are if your not confident in focussing them for each eye. The amount of people I saw when working at an outdoors store just jam binos to their face and not dial them to their eyes was surprising.

I have a set of Bushnell Excursion HD 10 x 42s. Good quality & clear, some distortion around the edges but thats to be expected at that price bracket. Clearest I've had on my eyes were the Steiner military 8x30s

I've got a set of Simmons mid size (10x50?) roof prism binos that I quite like. To my eye they measured up pretty well for the $$$. Big enough to have a good field of view & pull in lots of light, but not too big to carry if required.
