Looking at cheap/chinese welders?

Post by turoa »

Im currently looking at purchasing a little welder for myself to do home jobs etc around the place. Looking for something with a reasonable duty cycle, however I don't really do a lot of welding these days so don't want to buy anything too outrageous. Can anyone comment on what these Weldsmart welders are like?

Duty cyle looks ok for a cheap welder and can come with the spool gun for the 1 time you want to mig aluminium together

MIG
200AMP (60% Duty)
155AMP (100% Duty)

Does anyone have any experience with these or other cheap welders? Would have loved to score myself one of the Magmate 180's (from BOC) but they don't sell them anymore and they don't come up on trademe very often.

Looks fine but I'm no expert. the spool gun would cost you half of that.. I recall mine was 300 plus the mini reg etc.
