L200 4wd V6 fuel lines

Post by altair »

While looking at options to replace the Mistral for towing, I have a chance at picking up an L200 4wd doublecab ute, 3 litre V6, 5 speed manual, 1994.

Seller has said it needs fuel lines underneath for next warrant, (and surface rust underneath cleaning and painting) and the fuel lines are hard to find. Has current warrant till almost mid 2017. I know the seller and trust her, but interested in the fuel lines..are they hard to find, or a special type?

Cheers

to read between the lines the seller is saying its full of rust underneath and has been told it wont pass its next wof..... your call if you want to buy it replacing the fuel lines will probably be the easiest bit :D

had this happen to a mate with a camry. if the fuel lines have surface rust (and you spot it before the warrant place does), then a wire brush or sandpaper and then painting them will sort them.HOWEVER, if the warrant place has noted the brakeline or fuel line rust, then they wont accept this sanding and painting , as their (unlikely)theory is that they 'might be rusting through from the inside'. It cost $800 to buy new lines from toyota. The car was worth under a couple of grand.

Cheers, bought it anyway..crawling underneath it the lines don't look that bad. I'll clean them up as best I can and replace fuel filter, that looks rusty. Some of the fuel lines/brake lines have hard black crap (possibly tar) on them so will scrape that off...if any part of the line looks dodgy I'll take Buds advice and use rated rubber fuel hose to replace.
The chassis has light surface rust, might waterblast it all as best I can on a hot day, wirebrush what I can, spray it black, then drown it all in Fishoilene...stinks for a week or two but that is by far the best rust preventer I've ever used.

Have got the WOF sheet, says fuel filter needs attention soon, and general corrosion underneath. Its VTNZ and they get their nuts in a twist about surface rust. It has no holes underneath and is very solid. I know the lady I bought it off, shes pretty honest.

I was just concerned they had specialised fuel line...should have known better.

Cheers
