safari factory automatic/Manual locking hub conversion

Hi all,

I have a 90 SWB Y60 with factory nissan automatic/Manual locking hubs. I have read you can remove the auto part from inside these which is very easy.

BUT my issue is i have the model with the auto ring located on the end of axle by snap ring, Has and one removed this before done this way? I can only get you need a spacer of some sort to stop axle movement?
