How far do you want to go with it? There is so much you can do with a surf. 33" tires and a suspension lift and longer shocks could be the go.

A body lift is easy btw.

As Matt says, lots of relatively easy and cheap mods.

A couple of grand will get you a great setup.

OME suspension kit, new rear springs and shocks and adjusted front torsion bars, new shocks, trim down the bump stops.

30mm body lift, diff breathers front and rear, tow hooks front and rear.

31-33in mud tyres on a set of 8in wide rims and you will have a very capable truck.

Later on you can add lockers and other traction aids, and start stocking up on front diffs and cvs......

If you're planning on venturing out into 4wd territory, or tagging along on a few 4wd trips, before even considering other modifications give yourself the insurance of a snorkel.

After all that, all you then need is: 6-8" suspension lift, SAS, 36" + tyres, Double cross axle diff locks, Dual low range boxes, Better final drive gear ratios, Longfield axles and cv's, 8274 winch, etc etc. 8) 8)

Sort out what sort of driving you want to do by starting off slowly. It all becomes apparant very quickly what you need to keep up with the crew that you choose to travel with.
Most of all, have fun, that's what it is all about. :D
