Anyone done a u-bolt flip on a spring-under 70 series? Looking at doing it on my BJ73 using these kits

http://www.4plusproducts.com/fj60uboltflipkits.html

How would it go using off the shelf bits for cert?

Far back in time I used to make spring plates which looked like a top hat upside down, which had the U bolt nuts positioned at the side of the springs.
If any one wants a drawing of these just PM me.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with cert and a u-bolt flip, at all?

When I used to make spring plates I showed them to Certifier and he gave me a Certificate and all ongoing plates had to be made exactly the same.

Always a good strategy :D

I'd be inclined to check out if it is ok, but not actually bother with the cert unless the wof man has a problem with it. I'd guess once they're covered in dust nobody would notice so why not save your $700

Cheers

Things like this might not be a WOF issue, however it's the insurance that you have to worry about if for whatever reason you end up having a woopsie one day, and someone's sharp enough to spot that things aren't in their stock position from the factory.

Same goes for body lifts, or even running larger tyres. While the WOF fella may not have an issue with it (Or even notice it's there), you'd be wishing you spent the coin on a cert if the insurance company decides not to pay out if they hear about an "illegal modification". Especially if you happen to prang someone's $100K BMW in the process..

I'm not trying to be a downer, just trying to make you aware that it's not always down to whether you can slide something past the WOF man, because there may be harsher penalties to pay further down the track.
