Work shop day (about time)
Hmm I was wondering if anyone would be intrested in knowing that on sat the 10th of feb my kids and handbrake will be overseas and i will have nothing better to do then sit in my work shop alone all day. Yes a work shop day if you want to fix your truck talk crap or weld stuff come along. Some idea of numbers and what you want to do will help. plenty of steel at cost price. So if your keen let me know

Woohoo... I've been waiting for you to say that! I want to make up some rock sliders to protect the sills and allow me to take off the running boards before they get too damaged. I probably won't have time to fabricate them as well, but if I can get the steel, get it cut and prepare a plan then at least I can weld it up at home later. Actually, perhaps I should just go hard on the day and get them done so that they can come in handy at Redwoods the next day....
Has anyone get some pics of a good design/setup somewhere so that I can start planning how to do it? Preferably on another whale?

Hi Mark,
I've got a LWB patrol, just started making up some step/sliders - screwed up already, but that'll get sorted... just need to move the radius arms:). anyway, I've gathered / stolen about 10MB of piccies, plans etc - mainly from outer limits. Can email them to you if you want - just send me an address. I should have made sense of my mountings by the time the workshop day rolls around - will try and get some pics up if so. It's the mounts that are "interesting", then it's just a case of welding on some pipe, 100x50, or whatever you fancy. I got some 3mm steel bent to profile (100x50 with a corner cut off) , as I want to use as air tanks and I'm still having fun trying to figure out my welder, so don't mind the pixxing about. Mounting is a lot easier if you've got some body lift - gives you room for bolts etc.
cheers,
Terry

stinky is it ok if i come down and bend a roll bar for the fj40 and lend a hand
i went down to steel and tube and bought about a 50mm diameter 3mm thick 6.5m long length of steel for i think $56 inc. GST and got some plate out of the scrap bin for the bottom plates
