i do know in the standard lada's the alt can be moved to the top of the engine on the other side from where its mounted and by all accounts works well.

Quick tip: If your alt does stop working, get the engine going and stuff the hose in behind it. its usually mud stops the spring loaded brushes coming out when they wear.
well worked on my lucas alt anyway.

the only prob i have now is the brushes with the safari,s hitachi alts have internal brushholders and there a bastard for collecting mud ..
mite b able to drill a hole in the brush holder and put an airline onto it to solve this prob depending on weather there is enough room to do it..... will let u know how it goes
