It looks like your centre gap there is too large, only need enough clearance to allow the dog teeth to move past each other.
Now you have run the locker for a while recheck the gap and maybe adjust the thrust washers slightly.
I've busted the pins before when I shattered a CV. Always carry spares now which I got from and engineering shop, I think they were 1/4 inch ?
Give it a rebuild and go beat it up again

Ha, i keep gettin passed around.
Tried Rocky Road, they passed me on to Powertrax.com, got an email back from them, telling me to ring them

if it comes down to it mate i can pop the pins out of my spare locker and get you going asap and just leave the damaged side how it is ?

Keep that in mind Ben. Supralux is looking for some spare pins for me to.
Sayin that, i got part numbers last night from the boys at powertrax.com, and they referred me onto Randys Ring and Pinion, who i emailed this morning with the part numbers.
I'll wait and see when i get a reply tonight as to what its all gonna cost and how soon i'll get the parts.
At this stage, I'm thinkin that the kinda wheeling i do in the Safari it would be piece of mind to replace the broken coupler if its not stupidly expensive...
Otherwise i'll just replace the pins, put new shims in to reduce the clearence and run with it and see what happens. Would hate to be out somewhere in the middle of the South Island and have no 4wd.........

falsgrave(chch) have the pin/spring kits, genuine powertrax, about $35,not worth the hassle importing unless you bring in a sizable supply. keep your tolerances near min ,they reckon and the shear pins(what powertrax call them!! are less likely to go. repaired mine less than a month ago after busting a cv/twisting axle, pins went same as yours, had done 5yrs hassle free ,but closed tolerances to min to try and reduce the chance of a repeat.

Great, thats alot more user friendly than having to import them. Cheers for the heads up Cruza.
Now i gotta find somewhere to get thrust washers from, i rang Nissan and they will be two weeks away from Japan


Gonna try the transmission places in Hamilton, see if they have another source

Its a Powertrax Lock Right Mullet. Bloody good when they are working properly, would recommend it as money well spent to anyone

Hmm, just looked at your , photos again .I think it would be wise to try and patch that hole up on the spring side, maybe someone who's good with tig may be able to help,it doesn't have to look pretty, think you may run into trouble if the spring isn't contained, if your tolerances are min the pins shouldn't have any side way's loading and you will get away with it. doesn't take much to machine up thrust washers, work on 4-5thou clearance between pinion shaft and spacer, I used a surface grinder on some donor ones out of a munched diff head, that were to thick.

So i have thrown it together with love, and its back in and working as it should. Took it for a spin round the paddocks with the road tyres on and it behaved itself, so now it needs a test with the 35's.
I reckon it will be fine though. If not, then i know what i need to do. Get some thrust washers made and weld up the coupler.
