Hey Maddog, why the fear of water? Electrics (easily sorted) or air intake?

I'll try to get out there but got a friends farewell party the night before so I'm guessing I might be a bit merry the night before :flower: and a bit :colors: the next day.

I got given a snorkel not long ago for my old Datsun 720, it goes on the passenger side. I only wanted it for the air ram which I put on the Surf.
You might be able to modify it to fit your Surf
Its made out of 3 inch mandrel bent tubing. If you want it you can have it for free

Well if he doesnt want the 720 snorkel

I've been thinking of making one... any chance of getting some pics? as their are a few different air intake systems on these things, Mine uses a waffle filter that goes out to an oval shaped tube... about 3" wide. Then I can just buy an air ram from the tractor place...

Ok send me some detailed instructions from the gas station in Oxford. Also someone bring a digital camera as well to get some pics for the site. I'll try to but its only 50/50 if I can get it.

Right Mike, I got the camera. From the BP we are number 76 Main Street, its the dressmakers on the right, just rock up the drive and knock on the back door. I'm planning to leave at 8:45am.
As for the snorkel it bolts to the passengers A pillar then goes through guard at the base of the windscreen, then it has another 3 inch pipe which runs along the inside of the guard and comes out in the engine bay about 250mm rearward of the headlight.
Give me a minute and I'll get a pic.
Cheers

cool.... will keep it in mind, just having to try and fix my exhaust manifold, damned thing has a crack in it... have had a mate mig weld it today as my other mate had run out of gas

so hopefully it'll hold cos I need to get upto about 1200m tommorow on a very bad track... guy went up three days ago and ended up needing chains to come down... he almost went sideways over a 200ft drop.... (probalby my fault I churned it up last week... well I had to get up there and the track disintegrated as I drove up...)
So I'll be on the look out for a second hand Z18 manifold... soon....

You need to find someone with a TIG welder. But then again you should be able to find a second hand manifold for about the same price.
Sorry can't help you as the wreaker up here is a diesel.

the back pressure leak is now gone, but its knocked everything else out.... I think i should just take all my stuff off it, start at the top of the mountain and jump it off the end of the jetty to a watery grave.....
