Rad on the Surf blew yesterday, so while I'm getting a new one I figured I'd do the hoses also.
Genuine Radiator hoses, $15+GST each
New Rad core and top tank from A1 Radiators $340+ GST
All up, was very impressed with the prices, esp from Toyota. Hell, you'd be lucky to buy one BMW rad hose for less that what I got all 3 hoses for!

Interesting. Not so long ago Toyota quoted me 130 something dollars for 2 heater hoses.

My local dealer often sells quality non original parts. I think they got sick of losing business to the small stores down the road.
Some people get hung up on buying only parts from the dealer ,but Japan is not the only country that can make a good clutch or a bearing or gasket etc.

I always get a great deal from Canterbury Radiators...give them a try..ask for Lindsey.
When who ever you get to do it,make sure they weld the aircon pipe brackets to the top tank..not solder as they will fall off if soldered.
Cheers

You do know that Toyota use a random number generator to come up with their parts prices eh?
Eg 4A-GE crank cambelt pulley: $43, crank fanbelt pulley: $246
70 series rear light assembly: $140, rear light lenses only: $200+
Usually you can get the item cheaper elsewhere but it's always worth checking the genuine price 'cos ya never know.
Cheers

I work in the parts business, so I know what's a fair price and what's not. I worked 5 years for Nissan and Peugeot as Parts Manager and have been at BMW now for the past 18months.
All manufacturers prices fluctuate weirdly. Case in point, BMW 3 series aibag computer, drivers airbag only $1200, latest 5 series airbag computer with 9 airbags, $325. Nissan was bad for being hugely different prices between a left and a right hand part!
But $23 RRP, $15 trade for a radiator hose is bloody good, esp from a Franchise. And everything else I have priced has been about what I would expect, if not cheaper. And my theory is, if it has lasted 18 years before crapping out, if i buy another genuine one I'm not going to ever have to worry about it again.

The other day i rang 2 diff toyota dealers for the same part
...one was $25+ tax the other 35+tax
so even ring around the dealers as they vary
