Im trying to find the Location of second fuse box on a 94 prado. this is not the fuse box in the drivers well next to pedels but a smaller box.
I found it on the 1992 2.4L model but not on mine
Anyone know.

Not sure if it's the same but my (ex) 2.4 has a fairly obvious large black box with lots of fuses & relays just behind the batt.

Its not...i found the 2.4 fuse box on dads but the kz motor has it in a different place...but where

And believe me we have looked for that F##ken fuse box for hours.

Spent a good part of the weekend combing the engine bay with a tourch for it, but it was no where to be seen. Pulled up both left and right front kick panels, no fuse box, just the standard box.

Pulled out the rear interior side panels, just incase, no fuse box.

Pulled out glove box, no fuse box.

So were the hell is it??

There are 4 big box type fuses in the bottom of the fuse box on the drivers side kick panel, which is unusual, is that them??

The syptoms we are trying to diagnose are:

- No power at the plug to the fuel cut-off solenoid
- No power to the glow plug system.
- Engine will turn over, but obviously won't start.

Other interesting things:
- Lights on dash indicate all systems are go (no glow plug light comes up though)
- you can hear the glow plug timer working
- Engine had been getting hard to start a couple of days prior (indicating possibly a couple of dead glow plugs), but now refuses to start at all.
- Toyoda had been jump startying his partners car almost every day (poor uni students) for a week or so.
- He incorrectly conneted battery terminals to a spare battery i lent him to try and jump start the truck from and had a breif arc up (both batteries still ok)


So as a result of this, I suspect the most likely scenario is that the engine does have buggered glow plugs, but when he arced the batteryies out by mistake hes done further damage.

The damage to what exactly, is proving difficult to determine as we can't find any of the main engine fuses, which typically reside in a black box in the engine bay on the right hand side.

Any thoughts from the Toyota gods??

I wonder if there are some fusable links that have bown here, since it had a cross up with the batteries.
Check for two plugs in the wiring loom near the battery that are only about 3 inches appart from each other. These have several short heavy guage wires between them that are actually fuses. Maybee one of these has blown, test by removing the link from the loom and gently pulling/inspecting each wire. It may not be obvious at first that one is broken. Best to get the propper wire from an auto sparky when replacing them too. Tis easy enough to remove the pin sockets from the plugs and solder/crimp a new link in place.

This is from experience with the Terrano when its electrical system hemmoraged after Xmas. (And im still finding blown fuses)

yep already checked the Fuseable links which are still fine.
Went to the toyots dealer workshop which was no help. They said its an import and only be able fin d them with wirin digrams which they dont have

PM Oldblue he has some LJ manuals that are similair and seems to do alot of work on Prados. I'm suprised he hasn't commented.

Have photo'd the Glo plug section and e-mail straight to diesel boy.thats if the address is still as on this site.
Hope it helps, but it's to do with the early Prado wireing.
