y60 alternater problems

ok so i went to drive the truck this morn because the alarm batt for the silvia is flat, so it just started voltage was about 22v seemed odd then it started and didn't shoot up to 26ish like it normally would so the alternator is stuffed who;s had this problem before and any ideas on what it is yes the belt is still there

yes i've been thru the waimak silt?
yes i've been thru mud holes

so yeah any ideas would be good

what are the brushes like on these alternators

brushes dont like water i've gone thru many a set. check to see if ya got charge off the alt cos sometimes it is a fuse or relay that blows. if not pull alt apart and check brushes. a set of them cost like 8 bucks its the cheapest option

thanks where do you suppose i get them from? just pulled it off this morning i'm guessing it was teh oil pump on the back of it?

no it should be a vacum pump on the back of the alt

i get my brushes from warren auto eletrical jus over 8 bucks.
