Noisy Tappets

I have just got a 1992 V8 LD Discovery, the tappets are slightly noisy. Are they tappets in these hydralic or can they be adjusted?
The Rover V8s eat camshafts, and as the lobes wear away the hydrolic
lash adjusters run out of travel. The tappets are non adjustable.
The oilpump housings wear and are slow to gain oil pressure leaving parts to run dry on startup
