I had a couple of early starts for the weekend, 2:30am Sat Morn, and 12:30 am Sunday, spent Saturday in Mayfield cutting firewood, finally got the chainsaw cutting properly.

I did go for a recce in the Hinds River bed, went from the Mayfield Valetta Road Bridge, to the Oakley’s Road ford.

Nothing really difficult in that bit, but scope to play if you wanted.

I'm keen to see if I can eventually get from my Saturday starting point to at least SH1 around the Hinds area.

Helped my brother in law fix his work hack, found a fault with a temp controlled vacum valve that we needed to wait till it cooled before we could fix it. :? :?
So decided togo for a drive up the Waipiwa river which its just behind his place.
Nice easy track, a few dry potholes, no real challenges
Until ...
As I drove through a narrow section I ran over some small sticks burried in the grass and punched a piece of wood the size of your thumb through the side wall of my front tyre
Changed the trye ... Have to buy a high lift jack ...
Went back and finished the car ...
The car now runs sweet but now I'm looking for a new tyre

Repaired brake issues

http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4977

and the grumble

http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4889&highlight=

And got very hot doing so...

tested out in the Ashley and took the river routes to meet family at waikuku for tea and cut back through the river home. Surprising how many people hang out down the river at night. saw three vehicles parked up and people just enjoying the evening (think that's what they were doing.) I knew a place good for crossing so was aiming there (dark by this stage so was headign for a place I knew was suitable - some one washed dad's truck today and told him he wasn't allowed to get it dirty so I can't expect a tow from him). at my crossing spot was a guy and a boy fishing or some such, rather than causing a stir I found another crossing in the dark and got through no issues, river is low at present.

Loosely planning on heading into the pinnacles next weekend with family and a crew from Aust.

Did more tidying up of the loom
Fitted the second battery tray
New front brake pads..
Started playing with templates for my roof console

Fitted most of the Rancho in cab controller, but couldn't get to the valves on the front shocks...grr... also the system seems to loose pressure quickly so will have to pump the suspension every morning, I'm now having second thoughts about the in cab system..

He of muddy bumness had his camera, so we'll all give him crap until he posts them

Real pleased at how good the Lux went, bloody good for 2 open diffs and a set of 31" tyres... how hard will it go with a locker and 33" ?????

Yeah baby!!! LOCK AND LOAD, LOCK AND LOAD!!!!!!!!!

Not sure how that works either, but deffinatly made for an entertaining trip home 8)

Spent the best part of the weekend in the studio recording the last two songs for the new CD, but shot up to Mt Eden to drool over Rubberneck's LJ50, dropped into Lilpigs, raided his beer fridge, talked shit and. stole zook parts from his garage.

Manged to find 10 mins to pull the wiring looms out of both 50's and put the loom from the parts 50 into the good one. Seriously took all of 10 mins to get em both out and plug the other one back in

Struggled like hell for an hour to get the fancy airfilter off the twuck.

Mostly dust etc. Siwsie came out to shed to see what I was doing, then went inside.

Came back in a minnit and said the "The dishwasher is empty, set to high, soap dispenser fulla soap, all ready to go. Just put filter in and close door".

what a find THIS lady is.

Nice clean airfilter, twuck runs gooder now.
