How to do a proper job on a snorkel

I decided id better get round to putting in a snorkel in the rangerover (stock intake location is stupid), so I looked around the garage.

I found;
A box of pvc fittings
Some pvc pipe
some commodore intake bits
a $100 blue flexi intake hose (from supercheap 6 months ago)
and an old patrol carb air intake.

To start with, I started thinking about how I was going to do the underbonnet bit. I already knew where the snorkel would be feeding out. The original plan was to go and get another intake hose (black one), but supercheap didnt have any. THere were also not enough pvc bends or right size pipe, so I started lining up the commodore bits.

I used a 45 degree bend to come out from between the carbs, then onto a couple of commodore intake bits, then onto a bit of pvc pipe, which connected to the blue flexi. The flexi was then fed through teh panel under the windscreen and a hole was cut in the panel. It was then fedout, and then the bit of patrol intake pipe with the bend was added onto the end.

It is airtight, and I still need to paint the top bit to make it look a bit better.

I take it the amount of ribbed ducting was carefully calculated to give the best ratio of intercooling and vortex inducing turbulence to maximise fuel economy and power. :lol:

Awesome bit of inginuity. :idea: I kinda like it

and then the bit of patrol intake pipe

So Turoa...have you told your old man that you have "borrowed" bits off his truck?

Thankyou, the expansion chambers have been specially tuned for this application. The ribbing provides a "ram" effect when the engine is revved. Producing about 15psi of boost. I have also installed a flux capacitor.

on a more serious note, how do you find the Rover v8 in the water?? have you done any other wading mods?? i got an ex army 109 V8 and am looking to make it a bit more water resistant!!

I think the rover v8 dizzys are useless in the water. The best thing to do would be to put an HEI in there. They hadve no rpoblems in water. I did a very reneck mod of just covering the dizzy in ducktape, and it actually worked very well :twisted:

haha yea i did mod similar, latex rubber glove, mine has a ford v8 dizzy so will look at ways for that i suppose, how about your coil does that need water proofing??

It might be wise to put it in a box or something, but I think it should be fine
