The sector shaft seal was leaking , replaced it with new one, started up the motor, bled the system, then the new seal got pushed out of the houseing.
Does this mean that there is an internal leak in side the box?
Question 1 : Any one had a box reconditioned, what did it cost?
2 : What is the going rate for a second hand box.
3 ; Has anyone got a good box for sale.
As far as im aware all the 70 sereis leaf spring cruiser have the same box.

H2O here just using Mudbums computer. By sector shaft i presume you mean the input shaft from the steering wheel? I reco'ed my 70 series box, easy as if you have half a clue, just watch out for the 20 or so ball bearings  . only thing i'd recommend is to buy the input seal from toyota. I started with an aftermarket one but it leaked so got one from toyota and have had no probs. As for the seal getting pushed out ?? there should be an adjustment type collar that fits over top of the seal and holds it in place. apart from the seal from toyota ($28 approx) i bought the rest of the bits, about 4 O Rings, from Seal Imports here in Ch Ch for about $10 including the original dodgy seal.

Have got a price of $280.00+GST to get the box reconed, so i will go for that option.
The sector shaft is the vertical shaft that comes out the bottom of the box.

Follow up! The job was done at the given quote.
They fitted a "J" seal in the houseing where the sector shaft passes thro.
This is a much better type of seal.
