What size tyres can you fit on 15" rims?

What is the largest tyre I could put on 15" rims? Also what would be a good size for these rims? At the moment the tuck is standard but Im looking into a 2" suspension lift and 2" spring lift

what width are your 15 inch rims....... some suggest 7 inch rims should only go to a max of 10.5 inch wide tyres...... some say 8 inch wide rims can take 12.5inch wide tyres..... even different tyre outlets seem to not be able to agree.......

15x8 rims a pretty standard for a medium + truck, tyre size is usually determined by the vehicle.... gaurd size and clearance and drive train to turn the wheels

.... so sadam, you would put what width tyre on a, say, 7 inch rim then? 12.5 inches wide perhaps? no drama to sidewalls on a tyre that wide with a rim that narrow?

I have seen guys driving exactly those dimensions with no care in the world, but go and suggest that to a tyre shop....

I have 33x12.5x15's on my 15x8 rims with no probs however I do have a set of 15x10's ready to go on at some stage.

I've never had a 7 inch rim so I dunno what does and dosent fit on them? I guess if the eye-ometer says the tyres dont look right then they arent?

I've had 33x12.5 and 35x10.5 fitting nicely on 8 inch rims

I have two sets of 33/12.50/15 tyres on 8 inch rims.
Mates are running their 12.50 Hankook tyres on factory rims, but Hankook recommend that their RT01 4wd tyres are fitted to a 10 inch rim though.

And so, harking back to the initial response....... Dannyboy, what width are your 15 inch rims? :wink:

If we know what width they are, we can then have a starting point to wax lyrical about the plusses and minuses of side wall stress, excessive roll over of perhaps rims being too narrow etc etc.....
