Just thought I would share the info on the old Isuzu power steer box input seal.

I recently did some work on my brother in laws 95 Bighorn, one of the jobs was the power steer box seal.

Seeing as how I'm always looking for reasonable price on things, I decided I would go direct to the seal supplier instead of Mr Holden :!:

That was a mistake, got info on the seal via web, others who had fitted aftermarket gave measurements, so I went and got 2 of them (1 for his, 1 for mine).

Three days after I put the new seal in the brother in laws one it started leaking again, worse this time  :!:

So out it came again, with lots of muttering, found I had marked the housing slightly getting the first one out, so cleaned that up a bit and put the second seal in that I still had waiting to go in mine.

That one lasted two days, before the leak returned :!: :!: :!:

So off to the seal suppliers for another two (yip I'm a sucker for punishment).

Fitted the third seal to the brother in laws one, and this time used a sealer on the housing!!

This one lasted one day

The brother in law was away at the time, so the better half was driving it and happened to be at the mall when it decided to not only start leaking, but to dump all the power steer fluid, all in one go, over the malls roof top car park

She got it home but I wasn't popular as it seems they are bloody hard to drive without power steering

Finally got the message and went and got an original one, $25.00

Compared it to the aftermarket one and found the dims were way out.

I have now got another original one for mine, hope I don't have any issues with that one.

Moral of the story is check original as well, you may be pleasantly surprised:!: :!:
