What locker to get??

Well, I've decided that a locker rear diff is needed on the Cruiser. It is Full-time 4WD, so will need to stay away from front lockers.

Air Lockers are financially out of the question - $3090 for TJM Air Lockers - including air compressor (without fitting costs) ARB I gather would be about the same. :shock:

So - which is the better for general (not competition or racing) use out of the Lokka Lockright, or some other alternative?

Eventually, I may well get a part-time 4WD conversion done - but not for some time.

Any recommendations/hell-stories from anyone - especially anyone who has used these lockers in a VX auto cruiser?

had one in my dads vx cruiser auto, worked great, also have one in my 40 and that works fantastic as well. lockright ones.

hey m8
i have lokkas in my hilux frront a rear. they are amazing. Best investment you can make.
an just a little peice of info. they are made in the same factory, well im pretty sure they are. i think its only the little springs an rods that are made some where different. anf if you fillk in the wee paper thing that comes with them you should get life time warrenty

not made in the same place, but exact replicas of each other. Even the tempering process is the same. This was last checked a few years back though. Theres a guy going to do some tests on some new ones in the next few weeks

yea auto lockers are good but can be a little noisey. they clunk and bang and click on the road. they take a bit of getting used to on the road the main thing is that you have to keep the power even through the corners or else it gets a little jumpy but this may just be the suzuki could be different for different vehicles. they are abosolulty magic offroad :wink:

i have found that if they are set up properly they are reasonably smooth on the road (fist time round i think bearings were not set up properly and it was a prick) the heavier the vehicle the better too. i would think that on a cruiser especially with the all wheel drive you would hardly notice it.

You could try and track down some factory VX 80# elect lockers,they are very strong.
If you do a lot of road miles another budget option is fit free wheeling hubs to front and remove front drive shaft for road use.makes alot of different to power and MPG.

That would be an great idea - the loom is already there, but, they seem about as scarce to come by as rocking horse shit in Cathedral Square

Thanks for the help guys - it looks like the Lokka Lock-right will be the one to go for.

I guess that they would be a bit cheaper than the Detroit Locker as well
