Turbo kits (DTS, AXT or Denco etc) are about $4k installed. Often that only includes exhaust to the first elbow after the manifold, so you'll still be up for the cost for the remainder of the exhaust.
Allow for getting the fuel pump adjusted also.

Why diesel? td42 (diesel) has alot less power and torque than a tb42(petrol). Yes, you can go and bang an aftermarket turbo on there, but you will only be getting slightly more power than a tb. Throw a turbo on the tb and you will get about 200rwhp, I have heard that with tuning and intercooler etc, you can get 400rwhp

Could be a price thing rather than a power thing?
Although I'd love the extra power, I couldn't afford to run a petrol

Dave once you have a petrol, you would never go back to a diesel

If I was going petrol, I wouldn't bother with the TB42, it would have to be a 350 or similar.
If I had the know how and contacts to do it cheaper I would

Maybe this is why?

With a decent turbo kit and tune, you will get all the towing performance out of the TD42 you need. Plus, you're only paying 2/3 the fuel price of a petrol.
