Opinions on SJ413 and similar

Post by luke25 »

I've seen a few of these selling at reasonable prices with quite low kms so I'm seriously looking at getting one. The are undoubtedly good off road but it would be my only car so It would have to handle the road side of things ok too. Are there any major reliability problems to keep an eye out for on these vehicles. Can the little engine handle open road driving. I don't mind it being a bit slow but can it do 100-110kmh without working too hard. Are they reasonable on the gas (I'd hope so with a motor that size!).

Any advice much appreciated.

They're a little bouncy on the road but its nothing major, and they go 100+ fine ,the only major i can think of to look for when buying is rust (I spent 2-3 weeks over x-mas welding plates into the roof :( ) hope this helps.

Hi Luke, the Vitara/Esudo is more competent on-road, at the expense of off-road capability, and the SJ is easier/cheaper to upgrade for off road if you get more serious. Escudo's are getting cheap now, and they seem to be less prone to the ol' cancer. Check out pirate4x4.com and outerlimits.com.
