ORE Club Champs Rules?

Ok probably about time we started having some ORE competition events or club champs as they are known, wot we need first is a set of rules.

We need to think about the different classes of vehicles and possibly drivers, these events are typically a fun event with some fun competition thrown in, all hazards are optional and hazards are usually shiny and up.

ok ...... give me some idea's and I will draft some up.

Landrovers will need to go in their own class as you will need to have a "pit stop" in the middle of each hazard so we can refuel.

Kool idea!!

To make it easy for anyone and everyone to enter what ever they drive i reckon there should be a minimum standard that covers all classes.

Seat restraints (standard seat belt)
Helmet
Fire extinguisher
Roll protection on soft top vehicles (single body mounted hoop or something minimal like that)
Tow hooks
(all inspected at scruitineering)

Bush truck class:

What ever you want to enter. Anything goes. Lockers, welded diffs, 44" tyres, twin turboed lexus's, steel winch cable, what ever. Should cover all the back yard projects that are in the works and keep it intersting.

Shiney class:
Must have wof and reg and max 31 x 10.5 tyres. No traction aids etc allowed. Should keep all the beginners and vitara owners happy.

Club class:

31 X 10.5 tyres and up, wof and reg, and what ever goes. Should be the biggest class. Traction aids, suspension mods, what ever goes. That puts basically stock vitara's with an ARB in the rear up against someones million dollar Corvette powered Cruiser running 44's with two cert plates to fit the list of mods. Good opportunity to show ya mates up ;)

KISS and FUN

WEll, the pitstop would also be needed to replace diffs at daisy.

Seriously though, I dont think helmets should be mandatory.

Open class:
Anything goes

Modified:
max 35" tyres
Wof and reg required
traction aids allowed

Standard:
Max tyres size of 32"
No traction aids

Super standard:
No mods except tyre change allowed

We need to include that all vehicles require RATED towhooks ie 1 front and rear, and rated strops. due to the recovery of some hazards these are required,

mike had an idea about this at my place which we could look at more closely as it could be a fun event and all set in about 5 acres so would be a good spectator event too
mike was talking about it been a head to head speed event which would be bloody good fun but maybe a little dangerous   but im in :D :D

For $100 for a new helmet there is no way you could run a fun trial style event and not have them compulsory . OSH would have a field day for a start and I think it would be a bit unsafe .

Agree with Chris. Protect the head, its one of the few injuries that you seldom make full recovery from :?

Technically it has to be a fun challenge not a competition for insurance to be valid.

Laurie Sanson Rules/classes (basically) as follows

A Class - Road Legal, factory traction aids only

B Class - 4/6/8 cylinder, repowers ok, susp mods ok, No traction aids, no tyre size restriction

C Class - Anything goes

Has worked for years and always healthy competition within the classes. If you have enough entrys you may want too split A Class vehicles into 2 classes, upto 32" tyres, and 33" up, or maybe traction aids and not as a lot of people seem too run aftermarket lockers....

Must have Helmet
Must have rated towhooks
Must have Fire Extinguisher
Must have a minimum of Main hoop and rear stays in a soft top vehicle

Other things like battery secured etc, Ive been guilty of that one in the past, can lead too nasty things if moved or contact with bonnet

Bound too be other things that come too mind.

My insurance is fine so long as its not a speed event ( timed trial ) . Anything else is good

the idea is that its a fun shiny event not a full blown comp, perhaps we look at a harder event for those who want it as well

We have shineys in the laurie sanson FUN trial Series....
Most hazards have different shiney (A class) exits to the B and C class. Therefore all the club members are interacting. The other good thing about our series is that C class arent elegible for the trophy at the end of the series (99% are national trials competitors) therefore giving the rest of us a chance at winning something 8)

I'm more of a shiny trip guy and don't profess to be an expert on competitions, would like a volunteer to look after organising the Wellington one, I can provide assistance and volunteer others to help where necessary.

   I like it, let me guess jerry your a boss an't ya
Don't underestimate your contribution... one of the things that I've noticed is when I was planing compition tracks for MTBike events was that becouse I was in the top end of the riders, what I'd asume was no challange for me and would be good for beginners wasn't neccicarilly that easy or enjoyable 8) I found having a beginner or easy ridding level guys along and finding that comprimise between there "no way" and willingness to trust me "... trust me, you can do it.... just go fast.." 8) worked out great, stretches there skill just a bit and really made them amp when they got through

Not too sure re the factory traction aids, as the advantage may lie with patrols, landcruisers etc that have factory lockers :?:
Maybe splitting the A class as mentioned to with or without lockers?

club champs generally indicate a fun comp  Therefore shouldnt really matter what class you are in, as long as you are enjoying the competitive nature of trialling and that there is one or two others in your class you can compare/realistically compete with. We are only discussing different ways club champs classes are run through out the country. Due too the varying terrain and type of vehicles that the majority own on ORE they will more than likely differ from the classes I listed in my earlier post.. Purely a discussion this thread.....
