Auto hub problem

I've just got the hippo back from the mechanic, and now the rhs auto/manual hub won't disengage properly.
After taking out of 4wd, it will try to engage itself until I reverse a few meters. Any ideas?

I notice in my workshop manual it says to lock the hub bfore removal, which the mechanic did not do.
