Offroad-Express

This is going to be a hard one to explain, i havent had a chance to check anything yet, thought i ask on here for some common faults.

My safari is making a strange bassy sound from what appears to be the left rear section of the car, but could easily just be anywhere in the rear section.

At low speed while turning i hear a rumble coming from this area, i read something about hub adjustment the other day, could i just need to tighten a bolt?

I dont know if this is related but i notice the car can be a little bit vibratey on the road, this could just be normal vibration, ive never owned a 4wd before

This would scream out wheel bearing to me on a car but im not sure what the deal is with the setup in these 4wds

could it be the diff grinding away at itself as the inside wheel slows down? do they run viscous diffs in the rear? its got locking hubs up front

btw its a 1992 safari kingsroad lwb

if it is a wheel bearing you pull the wheel off, two bolts hold the calipars on, the disc should pull off
there a 6 bolts hold the axle in , you wiill be able to tell wheel bearing or not, 1hour max

shouldnt i be able to tell just by jacking it up and giving the wheel a push and pull top and bottom?"

ok, i jacked the truck up today and gave the wheels a good shaking, and theres no movement at all, i know the nissan viscous diffs a notorious for losing their locking ability with age, so i wonder if any one else has noticed a noise coming from the diff, like a grinding vibrating noise as they turn hard.

im gonna drain all the old oil out in the weekend and replace it with some super thick viscous diff oil and hopefully i hear some change in the noise

anyone ever pull one out and shimmed it up to make it all tight again? i did this on my drift car and it lasted a few track days of solid twin spin burnouts without loosening up

changed the bloody oil and the sound has gone, who wouldve figured

put some penrite 140 in there, nice and thick
