Where is every one?
I'm here waiting for paint to dry, getting bored and think I'll head down the ashley later. Found some new tracks friday on my way home from Rangiora (I don't use the bridge where possible but never tried finding a quick crossing up stream, you have to go miles upstream to get into the river bed from the first groin) When I got across I turned up at the northern side 4wd track.
...paint on the tractor parts should be dry now, better keep going till I run out of thinner since the weather is ideal for painting...
any one gone on the lions club trip?

Picked up a '90 Safari today for $1500 without motor. Complete otherwise, and running a 3" lift.
Might be doing a ute conversion on it, not sure yet, as I have a mate up north with a LS1 and he wants it to put that in

Swapped my factory diesel tank for a 3L V6 tank with in tank pump and removed the noisy aftermarket pump fitted to the inner guard.
Ran a new cable loom down to the pump, put it into a sheath and cable tied it to the existing hard lines. Fitted a connector in the engine bay on the wiring to the fuel pump relay and put the other end of the connector onto my new loom.
I had to change the fuel level sender unit over as it was different from the existing diesel one, well the connector was different, and I had to cut down the ouput fitting from the pump and connect everything up with some EFI fuel line.
Fired up first go and seems to run as well as before but with less noise due to the in tank pump being nearly silent.
The tanks are actually quite a hassle to fit and remove, getting access to all the fittings is a PITA. Glad it's done now though, it was worth the effort and the $100 it cost me for the tank with pump and the cable and connectors etc.
Matt.

Bought a Safari today for $1500, and just sold it to a mate up north so he can throw his old SS motor in it.

got a fair bit of painting done, then went down the ashley with a MU. no sagas till we got to 'the willows' along the 4x4 track, there is a big hole there where he got stuck so I pulled him out, then I ended up stuck in the same spot (water hole over the wheels)
After getting out of there we continued along then out ot the river bed to return, he went down a rapid and then in large lose bolders managed to blow a hub so I had to pull him out and tow him a portion of the way down stream.
One then the other of my headlights gave out due to water in them, was dark by then so managed to find our way to an exit and then home on the spotties which we turned downward for 'low beam'

I did a bit round the house on sat, and some shopping with my better Alf.
Sunday (today) was a biggie, started at midnight with getting started on Paper deliveries, then down to Mayfield (1Hour 10 South of CHCH) where I cut some firewood, drove trucks and pulled the motor out of the doner motorbike, then let Div drive back up the Hinds river on the way home. bit shattered now so time to hit the hay think.
Heres a Pic of the truck I was driving today, Silver Louisville on the right!
Also got given an electric fan, so that will be the next project, I will put some pics up of the job when I get into it.

Saturday ventured down the waimak for a few hours before me first soccer game (very unlucky loss). Sunday headed out with 2 other trucks to amberley beach, up Waipara to the main bridge. Nice soft shingle

Then to the Ashley for a wee play in the mud, then to belfast pub for a jug, then took the mcleans island tracks towards home! was an excellent day!

Did thompsons track on sunday with xj, dixie and safari_mush. Had a blast was a bit slippery, put the surf on an extreme angle the front wheel was like 5 foot off the ground! lol Heaps of new scars on the surf just adds to the look lol. Hopefully will be some pics posted up at some stage.

went up tomos with nzhunter, dixie and xj
smashed rear light, running board, roof gutter, brake rotor and stone gaurd
was driving home between morrinsville and hamilton on a sweeping right hand bend and my left front wheel decided to make a run for it over a few paddocks used my hand break to slow down and pulled over to the side
i will post up pics of my brake rotor sometime
its really strange i did them up the night befor and im 100 percent sure i did all of them up the rims off a hilux and they are alloy i have read a magizine article about nissans not liking some alloy wheels
allso made up my winch bar i dont think it will ever break its pretty solid
replaced my brake rotor did both my inner axle seals and wiper seals for the hub plus all my brake pads and replaced diff oil, gear box oil while fitting my pto out put

you sure the threads didn't strip, break or something? You didn't go through a large pothole or roadworks or anything unusual at speed?
You should have felt a loose wheel like that, not saying you cant drive

just I had a similar think happen at the end of a quarter, I ripped striped and broke the studs out on launch and it was only inertia that held it there. Knew as soon as I grabbed second something was funny but it wasnt till I turned I found out what.
If you tighten the nuts too much you will stress the stud and they can fracture and fail very quickly. Glad you are OK bloody lucky it didn't dig in!

it actually rolled on the disc haha
i own a 500hp drift and skid car i change hundreds off tyres a year and never had this happen before
im blaming it on the rims they seated in quite well tho
none of the studs were damaged and i was able to find the wheel take a stud off every other wheel and my spare wheel and drive it really slowly about 2 kms to home

very strange.... were any of the other nut's loose on the remaining tires? I guess the gremlin's were just having fun.

truck drivers are recommended to check there wheel nuts about 50 km after having a wheel removed i think it has something to do with being a big wheels and the inertia or something like that and since 4wds generally have quite large wheels a similar thing can happen i have had wheels come lose myself but luckily i noticed it before the worst happened

You are becomeing a source of concern, Billy, When you take the "H" off the word HALF, you end up with ALF, which is short for ALFRED.
Has there been a sea-change in your life you are keeping secret?
