Offroad-Express

Hey all. Just swapped my car for a 1994 Nissan Safari Granroad and i'm lookin to get into a bit of off roading. Done some basic stuff so far but nothing that outragous as i haven't had anyone near by to tow me out so i don't want to push it.
The truck is stock as far as i know apart from an interior mod, which is a frame and some hard back cushions that make a bed, pretty handy.

All i have planned for it at the moment is a snorkel (already ordered a steel one), a seperate set of off roading tires and rims and to raise the ride height a bit, depending if i really need to or not.
One of my mates jut a got a Pajero so we are looking to start off simple together and learn the ropes.

Haha, I was insane before i got interested in this so theres little hope left by the sounds of it.

Welcome on board Dude, and good to see you drive the only true 4wd and not a bloody toymotor. I will be running the training day towards the end of next month if you are interested. Keep an eye out for our canterbury trips and our more challenging extended excursions.

Will I need a tow hook or anything before i go?

Yes you will need one front and rear if you want pulled out, I would recommend a shovel too as you drive a big heavy beast. Also the shovel could be useful to keep the toyota owners like me from filling in the hole where it gets stuck...

Training day's are usualy not too aggressive and not hard on the 4X4 but do teach you how to use it and give you confidence in using the thing and where it will go.

Whats wrong with the clips on the bottom of the truck? Just to hard to get to when its up to its neck in mud?

Nah mate, you'll need my shovel as a spare after you wear out yours digging that toymotor out haha.

Where would you recomend getting some hooks from and about how much are they each? I'd be able to mount them myself as well I'd imagine?

Sorry to bombard you with questions but you don't know if you don't ask like.

And i'll def be keen for the training day so long as nothing important pops up on the same weekend but most drinking is to be had at night so I should be safe.

4wd accessories in Montreal St (I think) would be the place to go.
Hooks range from $15 up, depending on brand/where you buy them, just make sure the have the rating stamped on them.

If mounting them yourself, get advice when you buy them, as the hooks are only as good as the mounts.

Welcome aboard! I'm relatively new too (Feb). Went on a trip to the Ashley and had an absolute blash! Good bunch here and the there's heaps of knowledge to be shared etc! Come to the right place IMHO.
