At that time of the year, snow flurry's are a very real possibility up the higher parts of Terawhiti, better bring my woolies.
I remember a trip in there a couple of years ago where we left the Makara garage in beautiful sunshine, drove through snow and hail across the tops of the station and arrived at Outlook Point overlooking Cook Strait in beautiful sunny conditions again with a stunning view of the South Island. All very weird.
