hi guys I'm new to ORE and pretty new to 4wding so could do with some help.
I want to put 35's on my FJ70, I've been told that if I put Old Man Emu springs on front and rear there will be enough clearance to run 35's, can anyone confirm this. I don't mind spending the money but don't have it to throw away and don't want to cock up.

Hi Robo
It can depend on what tyre your looking at putting on your truck as they all have different overall diameters, some less than 35 and some more
I tried a 35 on my truck a couple of years ago with just OME 50mm lift springs and although I didn't drive on it it didn't look good
I've put some 50mm body lift blocks under my truck and it now runs 35's fine, I dont get any body or guard touch under full articulation (whatever articulation you can get out of stiff leafs), the only touch I get is on the chassis rails under full lock.
You'll find your gearing gets really steep on 35's and you'll need lots of power to turn the wheels
Oh.... and I've got a cab/chassis so I don't know what happens with the rear wheels

I've run OME coils in the terrano and safari. I am about to get rid of it in the safari. You got to remember that OME suspension is designed for Oz, outback touring. In my opinion it is not designed to perform in NZ conditions the more extreme shit that is. But saying that, it is really comfortable.

I have just installed Maxitrac 50mm lift springs on my 70 series.
Initially it was great, about 2.5 inches lift but on a trip down to taupo the front sagged about an inch down so now front only 1.5 inches up.
I also removed front stabiliser bar.
the back springs had a ridiculous flat leaf in them that hung down and would be shocking offroad so I removed it, and the front ones also had a really short leaf that looked like it did nothing so i removed them-maybe not a great plan.
spring under cruisers have a bit of a clearance prob under the shock mounts so a minor prob with these lift kits and add a leafs etc, is that they often have a couple more leafs and lower your clearance under diffs
ironically.
I run 35 x 10.5 extreme trekkers on 8 inch -28 offset wheels and they dont quite fit. front rubs on top of guards so i removed the top guard bolt on both sides.
back is fine- rubs against inside of wheel arch on total full artic but nothing major.
Std shocks a bit short and will limit articulation so i also made low profile under leaf bracets with the shock pegs mounted 1.5 inches higher.
also gives another inch of clearance under leaf.
this was a week long mission so i do not reccomend to anyone...
A good idea maybe to buy maxitrac (cheap!) rear leaves and shackles and pins etc... and ome front leaves.
P.s how do you post photos?
