Had my surf broken into today, while i was about 30m away having lunch. Saw it happen. Forced the passengers lock, grabbed my wife's backpack on the passengers floor, and did the bolt in an 88/89 brown Honda Integra, rego BB****.
This was in Hagley park carpark, people walking around, and my wife and I having lunch sitting on the grass about 30m away. All happened in less than 10secs.
Got away with wallet, cellphone, keys, glasses and a green katmandu backpack.
This is the 7th time a car of mine has been broken into in the 18 months i've lived in Christchurch, all done in the same manner. Think I'm gonna fit an alarm and remove the door locks from now on.

Looks like a knife or a chisel, has been rammed into the lock and actually cut the chrome surround.

dude.. not to thread jack but i got a story too..

mate of mine left to go to oz for a job interview as he's shifting over there in the next few months..

he left at 6am monday (yesterday) morning and we had tee'd it up that i'd get his car and be able to use it and as a bonus it would be safe with me as he was out of town.. i picked this car up, a subaru legacy rs with big bore, lowered and all the other crap, at about 230pm, picked up youngins from school, and then parked it up my driveway locked at about 330pm..

i did my lawns at 4pm and it was still sitting there.. when i went out at 730pm to go to the workshop to do some shit on the 40, it was gone..

only thing left laying around was a pushbike lent up on the fence outside my place..

when i rang 5-0, they said that a vehicle fitting that description had been reported speeding through a red light in the linwood area of chch at 6.22pm.. so somewhere between 415 and 6pm it was pilfered.. fawkers :!:

police fingerprinted the bike but to no avail..

to add salt to the wound, the car was on trade me..

bloody dirty thieving swines...

rant over..

That sucks, but if you look at any number of car door locks, they aren't that tricky to get into with a bit of brute force. Stuff a screwdriver, knife etc into the lock and lever it up or in some cases down and it has the same effect as turning the key, just pops the lock. Had it happen a couple of times, but never in any car i'd had alarmed... Never had any success with reporting it to the Police though.

Maybe it might even be worth getting one of those flashing LEDs from Dick Smith as a flashing light on the dash is the only indication of an alarm that my alarmed vehicles have had.

Most thieves are lazy by nature and will go for easy pickings over something that maybe, just maybe might give them trouble.

Bugger man. At least they left you truck though eh.

Mine got broken into last Friday also, was parked at Hoyts 8, under a light at the back of the car park. They smashed the passenger window and stole 30 bottles of beer and my mp3 player's power cord. They left my $200 sleeping bag, Bourbon, Wine and the truck though so it could have been worse. Right after when we were about to go to Washington to see if we could spot anyone with a shitload of beer we saw a motorbike plow into a car while being chased down Moorhouse. Not a happy night.

You insured for glasses and phone?

Chased a car on Saturday night full of teens in my work van cause they were shooting people down Manchester St, six cop cars caught up with them on Moorehouse with all their guns drawn

Had my daily driver broken into couple of weeks ago, they stole my stereo and my work boots and socks!!! which were sitting in the boot.

Farkers. They levered the quarter light window out without breaking it so I was able to put it back in.

Matt.

Insured, but not worth claiming by the time no claims bonus is lost.
Didn't get full rego, otherwise would have been asking who wanted to come bash some crims...

Now going to put in an alarm and remove the rod linking the barrel to the mechanism, so it won't do anything if they try to force the lock.

Sorry to hear how often this happens

No, no, you've got it all wrong; Government and Police beaurocrats have advised that crime statistics have registered an increase solely due to "improved mechanisims for reporting". Image

FYI: In the north east sector of christchurch there were 33 thefts from motor vehicles on saturday nite during the rain. Cops told me that that was hitting a record for one local area in one nite. They say it would be the same people in each theft. And no fingerprinting done on any of it  . It will be filed away for trending statistcics later down the line. :?

Did the helpful Copper give the delightful sack of shit that is so well known a name at all?? :!:

A post on the web can do wonders for these sacks popularity - as well as let everyone else know who and where they are

Let us all know when you are told who the low-life piece of humanity is. As I said - nothing like a posting on the www to let the world know who they are living with/next to/associate with :D
