Hi,

Can anyone out there tell me what handheld radio, or base unit shouls i get
i was looking at a uniden PRS Tranceiver for $349
and i heard that cb radios can only operate properly in a straight line

I just bought:

a UH041 twin pack with desktop charger,

a UH012 for the truck with a $100 antenna.

These work great and the hand helds even work after being drowned (left for 6 hours to dry out)

If you want I can get u some pics of what the car one looks like installed....

The handhelds come in very hand for recoveries and warning of on coming traffic to the other ppl in your party...

I bought a couple of cheapies off Trade Me ($50 for two still in packaging) and they are working fine. I'd rather lose a cheap one than a good one into the mud. The dearer types are more powerful and transmit clearer,further thats for sure.

Stop fukin around and get a truck mounted one, if you want to get serious. You'll have 25 km range, clearer and stronger signal and you don't have to change batteries If you are going to spend $350, go another $250 and get the the Uniden GPS105, PRS radio and GPS unit in one, with trip meter, speed camera warning and speed warning. Best move I ever done comms wise, still got the hand held for recoveries and recces.
