Hello all, I've just bought (or my business has!!) a 1990 2.4 petrol Hilux ute. It has Munro shocks and maybe it's been lifted a bit?? Not sure. Has anyone got measurements? Seems very strong and feels good and tight to drive (only 125,000 ks). Any advice on limitations gratefully received. I already know about the tail overhang and the towbar stuck in Canterbury subsoil!

There are no limitations, it s Hilux... it'll go anywhere and do anything

...well, seriously, the rear end overhand on the d-cabs is an issue, generally its the towbar that digs in... you can have a removable tongue bar made, or have a rear bar with a socket receiver built in, allowing you to resolve some of that... also depending on what you use the tray for you can shorten them up by 3-4" which helps a lot.
The 2.4 petrol (22R) engine is a good one too, although thirsty...
What are you using it for? Toy? Work ute?

Thanks Steve, I'm a painter so the truck is for that through the week so I don't want to bend it too much at the weekend. But it's been to a couple of serious places already. The Clyde/Lawrence rivers on Erewhon showed it's serious bounder capabilities, the Selwyn is good for quick-shingle and the Burnham Army 4WD course is where I buried the towbar. I think I'll just have to live with that (or be a bit more circumspect when tackling this sort of stuff - if it won't go all the way up because of marbles or mud then I'll have to go round). The marbles on the 45 had the wheels spinning with not enough way on to get right up. The towbar is a serious looking thing which wouldn't modify easily and still be strong.
