has anyone fitted a turbe to their 2.8 diesel??? As it is now it is pretty gutless while towing the caravan, need to know if it would really make enough difference performance wise to make it worth doing.

Definitely worth doing. I have just done this to a mates 2.8. He tows a caravan too and his last trip towing from Nelson to Kaikoura he was wanting to pass people on the hills as they were too slow. In the past he had to pull over to let them pass him.
Its a real simple swap/mod. You just want to have all the parts sorted before you start.

Hi there, I see you are new, so I won't be harsh, but if you click on the serach button, and do a quick search, you should find some info on this, as I know it's been discussed before.

Welcome to the site.

Where in NZ are you? I think the guys at Kaiapoi Diesel Repowers have done a few... there are a couple of little snags from what I remember... a stud in the manifold in the wrong place, compression needs lowering... can't remember the details exactly...

Definitely makes a huge difference tho... they go really well with the hairdryer bolted on the side.

I have a friend who recently did his. Bought a trashed Lux with the kit on it and transferred everything including injection pump over to his Forerunner.

No need to lower compression, ran fine with stock motor. Was mission to transfer over, exhaust was a hassle, some quite fiddly areas but he did it at home in the garage with no special tools.

Needed a new clutch not long after that though....
