I replaced mine with a complete set of Tough dog with nolathane bushes, greasable shankles and the biggest shocks that I could fit cosy in excess of 2500 but the best money I ever spent on my 413, It did take about 12 months before the springs settled in and evertything started working well

You could always pull them out and beat them back up

I tried 2 sets of Springs from Archers but didnt have a good run with them couldnt get them to last longer than 12 months before flattening , could well ne my driving style tho as other Zuk drivers seem to go okay, I also had more luck with beating up the original Zuks spring than others apart from my Tough dogs which 3 years later are still going well

Beat them back into shape using a good hammer around 4lb on a hunk of railway iron is what I first did. Getting aftermarket spring retensioned dosnt seem to last long

I think the Maxitrac ones (50mm lifted) are around $450 a set of 4, and long travel shocks are about the same again (roughly, from memory...)

Yes I have read that somewhere.
You need to take the leaves apart and trace around them with a piece of chalk on the garage floor so you can see how much you are reshaping them and to get both sides the same.
Sounds like a noisy job though, hope the neighbours like you

well the engineers arent keen on useing the press to rebend the springs and im not keen on the hammer idea... i priced retentioning and thats about the same price as maxitracs, but was talking to a mate today and he says new springs are to rigid and take ages to come right because of the weight of the zuk puts bugger all presure on them???....
any other ideas (other than coil overs)

A good set of second hand ones would be the way to go then.

for the minute take jamies shackles off his hands. And fit 30" muddies. you will find that these will scrape every where but it will be ok untill you get some money for lift springs. Jamie bought lift spring off trademe for very reasonable $$$

otherwise keep an eye out on repco for maxitrak...
they had springs (roughly 2" lift) for $75 each or something a while back... or if you happen to know anyone that works there may be able to hook you up at decent trade price...

yeh unfortunately there isn't too many other options other than new springs if you wanna lift it... seems to depend on who you ask and what you end up gettin on how it handles...

shackles can make it wander over the road, and decrease the approach angle... have heard BAD things about gettin them reset and they just sag soon after... so unless you can find some 2nd hand lifted ones :(

Just drive it hard and put a bit of extra weight in it and they should soften up soonish (well that's what i'm planning on doing)... I've gone with maxitrak springs, toughdog bushes, and planning on getting shocks once i've measured it all up...

Oh and a cash card doesn't save that much off the springs :( need a decent trade account/know someone/decent special and you can get them heaps cheaper.. (their normally about $115 from memory)

yeh have been in your position a few months ago... and it seemed like the best compromise for me between price and lift etc...
unfortunately my truck has been put on hold for a while with uni and that :(

front springs are fitted but its still on blocks so can't tell you how much it has been lifted or what their like... but planning a decent virtual lift and have got 31's to put on it, but hoping to go upto like a 32x9.5 simex or something (which actually measure 33)... will have to move the front diff forward a touch and knock the firewall back a little

In the US they have been putting the rears in the front and Toyota Hilux front's on the back. Havent seen anyone here or in aussie saying they have this setup but it is another option.

As far as extra weight goes you can load your zuk up with water (saves lifting just fill several chilly bin's in place) to speed the process but they will still take a little bit to free up. or you can as someone I know did unpack the new springs and minus 3 leaves for 3 weeks then when they started getting flat add the rest back. Have no idea how long those springs will last...

I used to run lift shackels but i found they got hung up on things sometimes and it was a little worse to drive on the road but they are a good start while looking for lift spring and you can easily take them out.
Then i found a set of 2 inch lift springs on trademe for $300 they made my zuk heaps better off and on road ,but i found they were a little stiff so i took a leaf out and they are ok now, and like the others say i have been told re-tensioned springs sag after a while so they may not be the best solution.
Hope this helps

Reset springs sag after a while and they can only be reset about 3 times before they become useless aparently (sag really quick)

Reset springs are usualy not as stiff as new and flex better but you get what you pay for.

Oh for that lotto win..... :?

posted this on the other thread but anyway... ST90 van springs bolt in the back, about 2" lift and usually brioken in by the time you get them. Extra leaf but you can chuck the overload (I haven't as it totally stops rubbing). Can also canabalise these for extra (stronger) leaves for the front.
