Spent most of the day cleaning, and trying to find a clutch for the hippo.
Might be cheaper to get one sent from oz. $475 there compared to $1300 here for the exact same item

I've finished the bottom end of my new engine, crank polish, new main bearings, big end bearings, hone, new rings, and all the bottom emd timing gear on.
Still to put on the head and modify (move) power steering pump, and alternator, supra will be screaming again for Al's west coast trip
Looking at plumbing in a idiot light as well as pressure guage, large light on dash to let me know when the angles i'm on are causing the pump to run out of oil, which i'm adament caused the bearing failure :x

I have one of those idiot lights in the hippo, but it only goes off when within 2m of a toyota owner

Looks like Sunday will be spent stripping the radius arms off to get ready for new bushes. Should've bought the body lift from Rik when down there, could have got that done while it's off the road

Removed running boards/side-steps, and thoroughly cleaned the crap out of the sill drain holes - releasing a swimming pool of water.

Finally figured out the sloshing sound wasn't the fuel tank.

Guess the truck will be about 20lbs lighter now. :D

Both sills were full of water!!

I spent a couple of hours today stripping down the top of the motor so I can get the starter out. The Lexus V8's have the starter in the intake valley in the wasted space which is a great idea as long as you don't have to take it out!

Managed to break two of the injector connectors and snapped the EFI temp sensor in half! Everything was badly affected by heat and water and dirt which made going slow.

Time to rebuild the starter during the week then put it back together again next weekend.

If you are contemplating a Lexus repower, definitely do the starter completely including the pinion clutch. Looks like the PO did brushes but the pinion clutch has nearly completely failed now. It's hard on the back doing it in the truck.

Yesterday ent down mcleans with aza in his rugger, as a mate had to try out his $100 pajero... Being a $100 vehicle the inevitable happened and it had a hissy fit and shat it's pants when the driver put it's nose in a decent sized rut. took 1.5 hours trying to get it started again and then to tow the bugger to the exit. By this time it was about 5.45pm.. So off home to get the Bighorn to tow the pajero to it's home, all the while large chunks of it's rusted exterior falling onto the road (pajero not bighorn  ). There's a moral to the story somewhere in there, no doubt you can find it!
