Training Day

Posted: Tue May 08, 2007 1:46 pm
by albundy
I will be running a training day for all Canterbury Association members on the 26 may(saturday). The day will start 0930 meeting at Rik's place out at Amberly, I will post a map closer to the time. There we will cover failed hill climbs, articulation, sidlings and winching. We will also go over vehicle setups. Lunch will be there. We will then go down to the mouth of the Waipara to cover water crossings, sand driving and recovery from mudholes(there are some good ones down there)

This day will be open to all canterbury offroadexpress forum users, but a $5 donation will apply if you are not an ORE National 4x4 Association member. Idea of numbers would be good please.

Why the $5 "donation" for non-club members???

Where will the money go? What will it be used for? Justification?

Maybe us non-politicians should have our own 'training day'

...its these little things that broaden the gap between the association and the forum members... or the in-crowd and the rest of us.

The money will go towards the running of the association, everything costs money you know Steve  If people don't wish to pay then it will be an Association thing. As with association trips, non association members can come along with their donation. Covers the cost of insurance. Are you for real Steve or just shit stirring again  .

Where will the money go

Oh I forgot, can't see how it is any business on non association members what the association does with its funds.

he's just shit stirring again and no doubt trying to piss me off a 2nd time in 2 working days!. Its actually very very cheap for training and of good quality. Some clubs have fees upto $75 for training so you tell me.

I'm simply trying to understand how the training day suddenly became an association event... previous ones have been freely given as a ORE community activity.

Its not my intention to take the piss or shit-stir, but if that's what you want to call it then fine, go right ahead.

Why not charge EVERYONE not directly involved in the training a $5 fee and have a big sausage sizzle / lunch and some games for the kids... make it a family day?...

Anyway, I'm done on the topic - have a fun day out.

where does it say that if the association decides to run a training day to educate its members and invites forum users as well, that there are no more ore forum training days?

nothing stopping you organising an ore family day one.

Anyway, I'm done on the topic - have a fun day out.

sweet, we will 8)

If the proposed training day is to be co-ordinated by the Association Canterbury Rep, and overseen by other Association members giving of their time and equipment, I hardly think that request for a nominal contribution from non-association members to help recover expenses represents an abyss of apartheid Steve.

HUH?

Plan for all day  All vehicles can attend that's what its about learning about things like tow hooks etc. Those without suitably attired tow attachmnts won't be able to go in the mudholes to practice towing/snatching, doesn't mean they don't learn. Encourages them to get tow points to get in and have a go.

Doubt it Dave that was one of a kind, but you never know ya luck, do ya

Think this means a member of the ORE "club" and paid extra for the NZ4WD association membership too, you will know if you can access the association forums I guess?

I have since found out that this area may be out of bounds Will look at another area for mud in short commute from Rik's.
