Unpacked more of the house. Slowly making more room in the garage to work on my old XL250. Anyone have a round speedo head to suit 83 Honda XL/XR?

Was supposed to go to the pub and play pool on saturday afternoon, but got called to do a rescue upWorsleys spur: another stuck toyota, with a springover and on 35" creepies too

Go figure. I will let him own up to that one, he is a forum member.
Spent yesterday out at Rik's planning the training day. Checked out the waipara mouth, spun some mud and headed up stream. Rik and I nearly got both stuck in a really soft spot, look out newbies

Competed in the Central Zone Teams Challenge, Had an awsome time lots of MUD MUD MUD. Managed to complete every stage but the last where we got 2 of our 3 trucks through.
Just got the repair the truck for rallywoods now, broke a CV, bent steering arm, smashed indicator, pushed front guard back into door.
I only got one shitty pic off my phone of the end result but there was a guy following us around all weekend with a video and still camera so will post some when i get a copy. 4x4 action was there also so there may be a few in their mag as well.

Saturday - took towbar off the escudo, did oil and filter change and fuel filter, removed all factory mudflaps, went to 4WD acc to check out lift kits (very busy so going in today hopefully).
Sunday - took the mrs to the North Canty 4WD adventure and let her drive. She bloody loved it and is all keen for the lift to happen now

(all thats required now is funds

) Rear tyres hit the wheel wells a few times but all in all was a bloody good day out :thumleft: .
Moday - Umming and ahhing about taking my old pajeros (now the old mans) gearbox out as the release bearing has packed up

.

completed lots of little things on the landrover - re-fitted the headlining, fixed a rattly window, put a clip in to hold the aerial, mounted the hi-lift where it won't rattle, snugged up the door stops so the seals are tight, removed an old external CB speaker I didn't need, tidied up some wiring, wirebushed and painted some rust, removed all the crap behind the seats
took it for a drive - it's amazing quiet now - no rattles! Should have done it years ago...

Congrats on the new winch and navigator, remember if you can't sleep you may as well be planning modifications for the truck.
Good luck and love the fact you planned everything into one weekend

Sat morning - built the wife a huge potting table - legs were 150x150 posts that came from a crate that our chinese granulator arrived in

Top was part of a 50 yrd old deck - half rotten - still, it was what she wanted
Sat afternoon - helped to reckie the Hunua School 4wd Safari
Sunday - all day

- very slowly followed around about 100 4wder's of varying ability - used my near new Mitzi Outlander company car - rather than the Cruiser - to make it more interesting for me

it went amazingly well.

spent along time goin to katikati over thompsons track
there are some huge holes n that track
dug a few more wth the digger to make it more interesting to
nothing worse than whats allready there took the sloppy mud out of the bottem of some holes too
mates little 2 stroke zook spat the front shaft and became rear wheel drive then became 1 wheel drive after he blew the diff so i towed him out
amazed to see he could snatch my turbo safari out of the big bog holes
and on the way home t started heating up so i cleaned the radiator and had no more problems cept when exhaust temp went up over the kaimais it melted one of the non return valve on the vacuum pump
so breaks didnt work very well neither did my clutch
finished this off too

That was the final hazard of the 6 we did that day, the only one we DNF'ed. It was made hard because there were no winch points and the ground was too soft for the ground anchor to hold in. Where you see me winching up the bank there was about 60m of winch extensions hooking me onto rogers truck.
